KPFF is celebrating 33 years in San Francisco this week! We opened our office in the midst of a recession in 1992 and never looked back. From Affordable Housing to Aviation, Commercial Office to Civic Buildings, Data Centers to Department of Defense, Hospitals to Historic Renovation, Industrial Facilities to Isolation Systems, Mission Critical to Mass Timber, Parking Garages to Protective Design, Resorts to Retail, Senior Housing to Sacred Space, Sustainability to Schools, KPFF continues to provide top-quality Structural and Civil Engineering services in markets across the built environment. Of course, we couldn’t do it without our amazing, creative, and dedicated staff, many of whom have been here for over 20 years. And we are forever grateful for the visionary architects we have the pleasure of working with and all the developers who put their trust in our talented team. Here’s to the next 33 years of improving the communities we serve!

KPFF is honored to be ranked #1 in the Building Design+Construction Media Top 50 Religious Facility Engineering Firms for the 2024 Giants 400! The Church of the Epiphany on Manhattan’s Upper East Side is a powerful example of preserving history while preparing for the future. Originally built in 1888, this landmark church and parish house needed a full renovation to meet modern needs. Working alongside ADP Architects, we helped transform this historic Romanesque Revival structure, once a cornerstone of Manhattan’s Czech immigrant community, into a vibrant, accessible home for a multigenerational congregation. The completed project includes a new Sanctuary, day school, multipurpose gym, rooftop terrace, offices, and a commercial kitchen that supports a neighborhood food service program serving over 1,000 meals daily. #KPFF #Giants400 #EngineeringExcellence #StructuralEngineering

Congratulations to the Seattle Multimodal Terminal at Colman Dock team for winning The American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Honor Award for Architecture - AIA’s highest award! KPFF provided structural engineering and overall design management for this $489 million ferry terminal, which hosts an estimated 9 million people annually commuting between downtown Seattle, Bremerton, and Bainbridge Island. In 2019, the Washington State Department of Transportation demolished the Alaskan Way Viaduct, an elevated freeway that created a concrete barrier between the city and its waterfront. The new Seattle Ferry Terminal replaces the decades-old Colman Dock with a design that seamlessly connects an entry building, an elevated plaza, and a terminal whose waiting room integrates Native American art installations from the Muckleshoot and Suquamish tribes. Designed by NBBJ Design to be welcoming to all, Washington State Ferries’ new flagship terminal reconnects the region and its people to our cherished waterfront and serves as a gateway to the Olympic Peninsula. #KPFFSeattle #Engineering #FerryTerminal #AwardWinning #Awards #AIANational

KPFF is honored to be ranked #2 in the Building Design+Construction Media Top 50 Museum Engineering Firms for the 2024 Giants 400! One of our favorite examples of creativity and collaboration is the Children’s Museum of Eau Claire, a 24,000 SF, carbon-neutral facility utilizing custom structural round timber. Working alongside WholeTrees Structures and Steinberg Hart, KPFF’s team engineered a first-of-its-kind structure that marked the first known application of structural round timber (SRT) in a heavily loaded, two-story structural system. The result is a playful, sustainable, and nationally award-winning space designed to inspire wonder for generations to come. #KPFF #Giants400 #EngineeringExcellence #MuseumDesign #StructuralEngineering #Sustainability

KPFF’s Orange County Civil Engineering team proudly attended the Phase 2 ribbon-cutting ceremony at Isaac L. Sowers Middle School in Huntington Beach, California, celebrating a major milestone in the complete campus-wide reconstruction and modernization for students, staff, and community alike. The brand new buildings – including the gym and multipurpose facility, administration building, locker rooms, STEM building and modular classrooms – replace the former windowless, honeycomb-style stone and concrete structure with bright, modern, and engaging learning spaces featuring new STEM technology and modern furniture. The modernized campus also includes expanded outdoor spaces designed for socialization and learning beyond the classroom, improved traffic circulation for pickup and drop-off, and new asphalt basketball and volleyball courts, as well as handball walls. We collaborated with Studio W Architects and Construct 1 One Corp to transform and improve the quality of the campuses’ learning environment for current and future generations within Huntington Beach City School District (HBCSD). KPFF is proud to contribute positively to the next chapter of the Huntington Beach community! #kpff #civilengineering #orangecounty #constructionindustry #engineering #huntingtonbeach #california #sowersmiddleschool #STEM
