  • What role do the advanced imaging capabilities of nuclear medicine play in helping our patients restore and enjoy their best health? Our nuclear medicine team of radiologists, PET scan technicians, radiochemists, medical technologists, and registered nurses share how their daily work helps to accelerate the cure for our patients.

  • Four Kettering Health medical centers have been recognized as High Performing by the U.S. News & World Report in its 2025-2026 Best Hospitals list in procedures and conditions across prominent service lines including cardiovascular, oncological, and orthopedic care. The four recognized medical centers are Kettering Health Main Campus, Kettering Health Dayton, Kettering Health Miamisburg, and Soin Medical Center. Kettering Health Main Campus ranked among the Top 10 hospitals in the Best Hospitals regional rankings, including the #1 spot in the Dayton Metro Area. Kettering Health Main Campus was also recognized in the “Best Regional Hospital for Community Access” category, a designation rewarded to hospitals with demonstrated success in providing high-quality care to patients from all socioeconomic groups. “This recognition is a testament to the system-wide commitment Kettering Health has made to help each of our patients restore and enjoy their best health,” said Kettering Health’s Acute Care President Daniel Wolcott. “We will maintain our focus on clinical excellence and patient-focused outcomes as we continue providing the high-quality care our community relies on.” Visit the link in the comments to see specific procedures and conditions that earned the designation at each of the recognized facilities.

  • Hearing loss can be an uncomfortable and isolating experience. Cochlear implants are an effective tool for helping people recover their hearing, but only a small number of those who qualify for the procedure go on to receive it, as many may be unaware that they are eligible or live in areas with low access to this specialized care. The Otolaryngology Residency at Kettering Health Dayton prepares emerging ENTs to meet this need sooner by giving residents in-depth training on cochlear implant procedures. Resident physicians complete the five-year residency fully prepared to perform cochlear implants with a focus on clinical excellence and safety. While many residencies offer training in cochlear implants, it’s common for only fellowship-trained physicians to have full competency in the procedure. Acquiring these skills earlier in their education allows our resident physicians to start serving their communities sooner and help close access gaps that exist for hearing loss patients.

  • The garden at Kettering Health Behavioral Medical Center is in full bloom! Not only does this space add a splash of color to the facility grounds, but it also serves as a valuable healing resource for patients. It hosts group therapy sessions, mindfulness exercises, and a variety of outdoor activities shown to support mental health including flower picking, nature walks, and bird watching. By providing a beautiful and peaceful outdoor space, the garden allows our patients to enjoy several of the therapeutic benefits associated with spending time outdoors: • Reduced stress, anxiety, and depression • Mood and sleep regulation • Increased feelings of purpose and connection

  • For those diagnosed with certain progressive conditions, the journey often begins in the primary care exam room and leads to the operating room. Theresa Newton allowed us to follow her journey as she had her essential tremors treated with MRI-guided Focused Ultrasound. The procedure provided immediate relief to the tremors that had stopped her from doing the things she loved, including enjoying Dip N’ Dots at Dayton Dragons Professional Baseball games. Patient journey mapping highlights not only the resilience of our patients and the expertise of our clinicians but also allows our system to continuously reflect on and evaluate the way our care teams work together across service lines to ensure coordination and accessibility for our patients.

  • In partnership with Kettering Health Foundation and Dayton Children's Hospital Foundation, Gala of Hope Foundation has awarded a grant to Kettering Health and Dayton Children's Hospital to support a major research collaboration between the two health systems focused on improving detection and treatment for one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer. Gliomas are fast-growing tumors, impacting both children and adults, that are notoriously difficult to treat. With a survival rate of just 10%, this diagnosis can be devastating for patients and their families. This new research collaboration will bring together the best clinical minds from both institutions to study how these tumors behave over time, with the goal of developing more precise monitoring and treatment tools that lead to better outcomes. The partnership expands the work of the Living Biobank at Dayton Children’s, a global resource in treating cancer that preserves tumor samples and shares experimental models with researchers who are developing and testing new treatments. Special thanks to Gala of Hope Foundation and Dayton Children’s Hospital as we work together to drive brain cancer diagnosis and treatment forward! 📸: Jennifer McCray
