Supportive cancer care is personal to me, and it should be the national standard for everyone. Years ago, I supported two of my closest friends through breast cancer. That experience opened my eyes to a painful reality: even with excellent medical treatment, there was a lack of emotional, financial, and navigational support — for both of my friends and their loved ones. That’s what led me to champion supportive cancer care — a comprehensive, evidence-based approach that treats patients and their caregivers as whole people, helping them navigate the unique and multi-faceted challenges of a life-altering diagnosis.
