In her piece “How a Historic Diamond—and Elizabeth Taylor—Started a Jewelry Trend at the Bezos Wedding,” our friend Stellene Volandes, editor of Town & Country Magazine, reports on the pear-shaped stones seen last week in Venice. For perspective on the popularity of pears, Volandes spoke with our chief creative officer, Rebecca Selva. “‘I think the appeal of what we now view as classic styles—and classic pear-shaped drops—is about a renewed glamour,’ says Selva, who helped dress Tony Award winner Nicole Scherzinger in a 22-carat pear-shaped necklace when she won for Sunset Boulevard earlier this month, ‘that is less constrained by formality, looking to and inspired by history and iconic designs which embraced glamour, but energizing it with 21st-century kapow.’” Read the entire piece (and feast your eyes on more celebrity glamour) in the link in comments below. #jewelry #bezos #diamonds #diamondindustry #jewelryindustry

When the stars of screen or stage walk the red carpet, Fred Leighton is always there too … and the 78th Annual Tony Awards was no exception. Our chief creative officer, Rebecca Selva, envisioned and brought to life spectacular jewelry looks featuring antique pieces from our collection, as well as diamonds from our sister brand, Kwiat. Pictured here: award winner Paul Tazewell; nominees Sadie Sink, Tala Ashe, and Sanaz Toossi; presenters Renee Elise Goldsberry and Kelli O’Hara; and attendee Helen Shen. Bravo to all! #jewelry #antiquejewelry #jewelryindustry #diamonds #diamondindustry

“Call Rebecca!” It’s something we hear often around here, so we aren’t surprised to hear Julianne Moore’s character, Kiki Kell, say it in episode three of Sirens, the new Netflix series. Rebecca, of course, is our very own chief creative officer, Rebecca Selva, who is usually behind the scenes, helping celebrities and stylists create showstopping red carpet looks. Watch the clip to see Rebecca style Kiki Kell in a stunning antique Kokoshnik diamond necklace and present a spectacular collection of Fred Leighton and Kwiat jewels.

When celebrities want to dial up the dazzle, they always turn to Fred Leighton, and last night’s Met Gala — “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” — was no exception. Our jewels looked spectacular on Serena Williams, FKA Twigs, Usher, Paul Tazewell, Michael Kors, Chris Rock, Nichole Scherzinger, and Bee Carrozzini. Behind the scenes making it all happen is our chief creative officer, Rebecca Selva — collaborating with celebrities and their stylists to bring these looks to life. #metgala #jewelry #jewelryindustry #diamonds

“People’s definition of a diamond’s beauty is opening up…they are drawn to antique diamonds and old-style cuts,” says our Chief Creative Officer, Rebecca Selva, in a recent article for the New York Times about the growing interest in antique and unconventional diamonds. “To meet the demand,” writes Jill Newman, “three years ago Fred Leighton created the Fred Leighton Round diamond in the style of an old European cut. The new stones provide consistent sizes and quality for designs that require matching stones, such as stud earrings, bangles and rivière necklaces. Just because the diamonds are old, does not mean the jewelry is dated. Rather, Fred Leighton is positioning old-style cuts in oxidized silver and gold collets settings in a simple rivière necklace that Ms. Selva described as ‘timeless, clean designs that look cool and beautiful on any aged person.’” https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/dun_R_ZY #diamonds #antiquejewelry #diamondindustry #jewelry #jewelryindustry

Michelle Graff, naturally, we agree! As always, Fred Leighton is honored to dress the film industry's greatest talents.
There were plenty of great necklaces on the red carpet at last night's Oscars but my favorite piece of the evening was the 1950 Fred Leighton brooch worn by "Wicked" costume designer (and Oscar winner) Paul Tazewell. Natalie Francisco highlighted her nine favorite looks from the night in a story for National Jeweler today.

A report from the Original Miami Beach Antique Show isn’t complete without hearing from Rebecca Selva, our Chief Creative Officer. Rapaport caught up with her at the show, where she shared her thoughts about the important trends in antique jewelry. “I was struck by the amount of these kind of easy, nostalgic and sentimental pieces we were able to see and purchase at the show,” she said. “The personal story a customer can create by combining different styles in these categories is still one of the most popular and relevant trends … We saw many interesting hearts and different styles of chains. Diamond rivières and single line necklaces from the 19th throughout the mid-20th centuries work well as the top layering piece, and we are always in the market for these — they are perennial favorites.” What’s Rebecca’s other trend prediction for 2025? Our parent company, Kwiat, was established in New York City in 1907, and opened its first boutique on Madison Avenue almost a century later, in 2008. The following year, Kwiat acquired Fred Leighton and we joined their retail space. We’ve always loved this neighborhood, with its classic elegance and luxurious sensibility, so we aren’t surprised it’s experiencing a renaissance, largely represented by young fine jewelry brands. As this iconic avenue becomes the must-visit destination for those seeking sparkle, we’re excited for visitors and locals alike to discover why our magnificent antique jewels are sought out by celebrities and connoisseurs.
