July 22 is World Brain Day. It was established by the World Federation of Neurology in 2014 to raise awareness of brain health throughout all stages of life. Emalex’s mission to develop new treatments for central nervous system disorders, namely Tourette syndrome, is coming to fruition. We are moving forward to bring a meaningful new option to a community that has waited too long. Today and every day, we stand with those living with Tourette syndrome, and we remain committed to advancing brain health through science that makes a difference. #WorldBrainDay #TouretteSyndrome #BrainHealth #CNS #EmalexBiosciences #Neuroscience #DrugDevelopment

May 15-June 15 is Tourette Syndrome Awareness Month. Given that not all people with Tourette syndrome outgrow their motor and vocal tics with age, it is possible that you, or someone you know, may work with a person with this neurodevelopmental disorder. Here are a few simple, meaningful ways you can be supportive: Educate yourself — Understanding what Tourette syndrome is (and isn’t) helps reduce stigma. Tics are involuntary and often worsened by stress or attempts to suppress them. Lead with empathy — Don’t stare, mock, or imitate tics. Focus on your personal interaction not the tics. Let them set the tone — Some people are open about their disorder others are not. Follow their lead and respect their privacy. Focus on strengths — See the person, not the disorder. Emalex Biosciences was created by Paragon Biosciences to solve unmet needs for patients with central nervous system disorders. From discovery to development, the Emalex team advanced its lead therapeutic to late-stage development, with a potential new first-in-class medicine for people living with Tourette syndrome. May 15 – June 15 is Tourette Syndrome Awareness Month. Symptoms of Tourette syndrome often emerge in pre-teen years with increasing frequency and severity commonly seen during adolescence. Some individuals outgrow their motor and vocal tics with age while others do not. Researchers have not identified a direct cause of Tourette syndrome though genetics seem to play a role. People with Tourette syndrome can also have comorbidities such as attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Early detection and intervention can help people with Tourette syndrome navigate their health journey. Learn more: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/e-v8TwcU

New research published in the Journal of Child and Adolescent Psychopharmacology, "Determining Clinically Meaningful Improvement in Children and Adolescents with Tourette Syndrome Receiving Pharmacotherapy,” includes co-authors from Emalex Biosciences’ leadership - George Karkanias, PhD, MBA, MS, Sarah Atkinson, Frederick Munschauer, Stephen Wanaski, and Timothy Cunniff. Using results from controlled clinical trials, the research outlines the minimum threshold on the Yale Global Tic Severity Scale to define meaningful improvement for children and adolescents with Tourette syndrome.
