Big news: we’ve outgrown our old name—and stepped into a bigger mission. Today, we officially say goodbye to Degree Analytics and hello to CampusIQ. Why the change? Because the work we do has evolved far beyond our original scope. What started in 2014 as a focus on student success analytics has grown into something much broader—and more powerful. CampusIQ is now the platform that campus leaders turn to when they need answers about space: how it's used, where it's wasted, and how to align it with institutional goals like sustainability, cost savings, and better student outcomes. This isn’t just a rebrand. It’s a recognition of what higher ed truly needs right now: -- Real-time visibility into how campus spaces are performing. -- Actionable insights that reduce operational costs and carbon footprints. -- Smarter decisions about facilities—powered by data, not guesswork. The momentum is real: 22 new institutions joined us just this past year, and we’ve helped identify millions in space and operational savings—while maintaining a 100% renewal rate. Our clients are not only staying—they’re scaling! A new name, a sharper focus, the same mission: helping higher education thrive through data-driven transformation. If you're a facilities leader, planner, or campus executive navigating budget pressures and the push for sustainability, let’s talk. We’re building the future of campus intelligence—and we’re just getting started. #HigherEd #CampusPlanning #Sustainability #SpaceIntelligence #EdTech #CampusIQ #SmartCampuses

What's truly shaping the future of higher education? Join our CEO Aaron Benz in our latest 'Bow Tie Tuesday' thought leadership video as he unpacks eye-opening data from Deloitte on accelerating campus closures, the evolving value of a degree, and the transformative power of 'systemness.' Watch to gain critical insights on repurposing space and recalibrating programs for success, then join the conversation: Where is your campus finding hidden capacity, or which legacy programs are ripe for retirement? Drop a comment below! #BowTieTuesday #HigherEd #CampusPlanning #StudentSuccess #Systemness
🦚 Bow Tie Tuesday Pulse Check: What’s really shaping the future of higher ed? Fresh off a deep dive into Deloitte’s latest report (link in comments), here are the data points that made me sit up—and tighten the knot on my bow tie.👇 1️⃣ Campus Closures Are Accelerating Since 2020 we’ve lost ≈ 40 colleges. Half of those—20 closures—hit in 2024 alone. Smaller, tuition-dependent schools are feeling the squeeze while mega-R1s keep posting record enrollments. 📉 2️⃣ The Value Perception Gap Is a four-year degree still worth it? 47 % of Americans say yes—but only if there are no loans attached. That number plummets to 22 % once loans enter the chat. Meanwhile, 76 % of trade-school grads thumbs-up their ROI. 💰 3️⃣ Programs on the Chopping Block ½ of college presidents admit they have programs that should be sunsetted but aren’t. Think of the space, staff, and dollars locked up in offerings students no longer want. 4️⃣ Wins Worth Repeating Western Kentucky U doubled down on student-success + retention initiatives and saw ≈ $2.4 M in net-tuition gains—both from new recruits and keeping current students on track. 📈 5️⃣ Enter “Systemness” Why run three event-scheduling apps—or three chemistry labs—across one system? Consolidating overhead + square footage isn’t just a cost play; it frees up space for the next wave of credentialing, skilling, and research. My take: Higher ed doesn’t need more buildings; it needs smarter re-purposing of the ones we already have. As undergrad pipelines tighten, the institutions that recalibrate programs, credentials, and space will thrive. 🔄 Over to you: Where is your campus finding hidden capacity? Which legacy programs (or software!) are ripe for retirement? Drop a comment—or a bow-tie emoji—below. Let’s crowd-source the future. 🎓✨ #BowTieTuesday #HigherEd #CampusPlanning #StudentSuccess #Systemness

We are here at the 2025 NACUBO Annual Meeting Thomas "Marc" Speed, MBA, has already shared a big win. At a session, a CampusIQ customer unsolicitedly gushed about our technology and the outcomes they have achieved. A key takeaway from the PASSHE Chancellor: "Opportunism can be a problem." Consider the strategy when merging or absorbing another building or campus. Well said. At NACUBO? Come find Thomas "Marc" Speed, MBA, and let's talk space intelligence.

🎥 Bow Tie Tuesday is back! 🎀 Let’s be honest—facilities & campus planning isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. 🌦️ When data says we should move or repurpose a space, emotions can run high. In this week’s video I share a story from Tarleton State that proves how numbers can turn tough conversations into collaborative wins: The Challenge Departments kept requesting more computer labs—yet occupancy data showed that many were empty or underutilized. 🤔 The Reveal Real-time usage metrics, and typically "uncomfortable conversations" uncovered the truth: those “computer labs” were really ad-hoc study spaces, and the true need was a single 80-seat testing center. 💡 The Outcome By spotlighting the data, stakeholders reclaimed under-used rooms, created the right-sized testing hub, and freed prime square footage for a new help-desk suite, saving over $200K in technology renewal costs alone. Win-win! 🏆 🔑 Takeaway: Metrics cut through bias, reframe the conversation from “my space” to “our mission”, and open the door to better questions: “How are you really using this space—and how could it serve you even better?” 💬 Your turn: What’s the hardest space conversation you’ve had, and how did data help (or hinder) the outcome? 🎉 Happy July 1 — and welcome to a brand-new fiscal year in higher ed (well… except for MA, NC, OR, & PA, still ironing out budgets). 👔 In today’s #BowtieTuesday, I dig into what lawmakers/politicians projected vs. what actually landed in campus coffers over the past year. Here’s the quick-hit version: • $130 B in total state support — up 📈 0.8 % YoY. • Net tuition revenue down 📉 3.7 % — CFOs are still sweating. • California: Proposed $646 M cut → deferred to future years. • Texas: Floated $423 M cut fizzled, but performance-based funding is coming. • Utah: $60 M cut ➜ claw-back incentives tied to high-impact degrees. • Wisconsin: Tug-of-war ends with $256 M increase, biggest boost in two decades. Bottom line: States keep backing higher ed, but the message is clear — prove your value, streamline operations, graduate students. The fiscal winds are shifting toward performance and efficiency. 🔗 Watch the full 5-minute breakdown (bowtie included) and let me know: How is your campus adapting to FY 25’s realities? #HigherEd #EdFinance #StateBudgets #TuitionTrends #CampusLeadership #DegreeAnalytics Aaron Benz #BowtieTuesday

🚀 How well is each square foot on your campus really performing? Today’s #BowtieTuesday video with Aaron Benz (🎥 just 5 min) introduces a single metric that lets you benchmark yourself—and pin-down the root causes of good and bad space performance: People-Minutes per Square Foot (PM / SF) (yeah... its just fun to say right?) 📊 Benchmark Yourself—Fast Campus-wide scoreboard: Stack every room, lab, studio, or lounge on the same scale and see the true top-10 % performers. Peer comparisons: Use your own PM/SF targets (or share anonymized numbers with neighboring institutions) to find out if you’re ahead of the curve—or leaving money on the table. Before-and-after proof: Renovated a 1970s lecture hall? Check its PM/SF pre- and post-project for instant ROI. 🕵️ Zoom to the Square-Foot Level Heat-map by building & floor to spot “glow zones” (overachievers) and dead zones hiding in plain sight. Design-standard overlay shows whether the issue is seat layout, booking hours, or just too much ASF per student station. Root-cause drill-down: Low PM/SF but high bookings? → Oversized room. High PM/SF in a cramped lounge? → It’s crying out for expansion. ⚙️ Why It’s Different PM/SF rolls three metrics—time usage, seat fill, and ASF —into one data point that every planner, scheduler, and CFO can read without a decoder ring. ✏️ Quick Example 25 ASF/seat × 35 hrs/week × 75 % seat fill ≈ 63 PM/SF Hit that mark and the space is “earning its keep.” Fall short? You’ve found a lever to pull. 💡 Take-away: With PM/SF you don’t just flag empty seats—you uncover why they’re empty and what to fix first. #HigherEd #CampusPlanning #SpaceBenchmarks #FacilitiesManagement #DataDrivenDecisionMaking
