🎾 Saturday nights in the Bronx are serving more than just tennis. At the Cary Leeds Center, over 50 young people are hitting the courts as part of our Saturday Night Lights (SNL) program. It's NYC’s only SNL tennis program, run in partnership with NYJTL and supported by NYPD. What began with just 15 participants has grown into a vibrant community, with youth showing up early, staying late, and finding connection through the game. Some even return as coaches, passing on what they’ve learned to the next generation. We’re proud to support a space where Bronx youth stay active, build confidence, and create lasting bonds! 📣 Exciting news for NYC families! This past week, DYCD joined Mayor Adams, Deputy Mayor Almanzar, and New York Junior Tennis & Learning at P.S. 152 in the Bronx to announce a major expansion of COMPASS afterschool programs - part of the Mayor’s vision for “afterschool for all.” Starting this fall, 40 new schools across all five boroughs will offer 5,000 additional free after-school slots for K–5 students. Over the next three years, more sites and opportunities will be added, helping thousands of young New Yorkers access safe, enriching spaces after the school day ends.
