TODAY IS THE DAY TO ACT – SAVE MEDICAID Let’s come together to make good trouble! At this very moment, the US House of Representatives is deciding on whether to pass a bill that would cut over $1 trillion in funding to Medicaid. There are over 20 Republicans in the House that are not sold on the budget. They will get tons of pressure to vote yes – we must make our voices heard loudly for them to vote NO. Call your reps first then other republicans in the state. Post comments on their social media. Here are the three that need to hear the message, “large numbers of your constituents are reliant on MediCal/Medicaid. This bill will have devastating effects on all of us. Vote no.” Here are their direct numbers:: David Valadao, California (202) 225-4695 Ken Calvert, California (202) 225-1986 Young Kim, California (202) 225-4111 The House of Representatives is expected to vote TODAY on whether to accept the Senate's budget reconciliation bill, which includes over $1 trillion in cuts to Medicaid. This is the final step in the process to pass the bill. CONTACT key House Representatives right now, urging them to reject cuts to Medicaid and protect this crucial program!

We were proud to announce the opening of Vermont House, a new transitional housing unit in San Jose, at a press event last week. In partnership with the Santa Clara County Behavioral Health Services Department, this facility will support individuals in jail diversion programs for non-violent offenses—offering not just housing, but also mental health and substance use treatment, along with help gaining life skills to support their next chapter. We’re honored to collaborate on solutions that support the whole person on their path to recovery and healing. Thank you to Santa Clara County BHSD and the Board of Supervisors for your partnership in serving our community! Being a part of a company that represents your personal values and aligns with your cultural values are such an important part of deciding whether you want to work in a certain environment or not. Working at Community Solutions for Children, Families, and Individuals, I am proud to be a part of a company that is committed to providing support to our community even when it gets “politically difficult”. Getting to hear from our leadership about the best ways to support our undocumented communities has been inspiring. And hearing their focus to also support their employees during these difficult times emotionally has made me realize how grateful I am to be working for a company that truly cares about the communities they service and their employees.

Last week the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1, the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. This bill proposes over $7 billion in cuts to Medicaid, which would result in an estimated 7-10 million people losing their coverage. IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO ACT! Many Senators have expressed hesitation toward Medicaid cuts, given the importance of the funding to public health and their constituents. Let's keep the pressure on and make sure our elected officials are hearing from us loud and clear! Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren visited our Gilroy headquarters on Friday to discuss the impact of threats to Medicaid for our most vulnerable community members as well as funding freezes for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. We are grateful for Zoe's commitment to ensuring that safety net services are protected for those who need them. Together we will continue to serve, advocate, and create opportunities in the communities we serve.

Medicaid (called “Medi-Cal” in California) is a federal public health insurance program that is critical to the livelihood of children, families, and individuals, providing funding for mental health, substance use disorder, and safety net services to over 72 million Americans. Right now, Congress is considering $880 billion in funding cuts to Medicaid. The Trump administration is preliminarily proposing to eliminate or cut many programs within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in its budget request for fiscal year 2026 (FY26), which would impact many vital services and millions of lives. While these proposals are concerning, we remain optimistic that there is both the opportunity and collective resolve to prevent them from moving forward. It will require 60 votes in the Senate and 218 votes in the House to move the proposal forward — meaning there will need to be unanimity among Republicans plus support from Democrats to get a budget passed. Join Community Solutions and our many partner organizations pushing back against these harmful proposals and advocating for those who need it the most. TAKE ACTION: Call, email, or tag your representatives on social media. Demand they protect Medicaid and reject harmful cuts! Your voice can make the difference for millions of Americans—speak out today!! Make your voice heard! Click here: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/gTQb5mdK to send a letter to your elected officials urging them to protect access to care through Medicaid. Encourage your friends and family who live in areas where the votes are most critical - particularly in Central and Southern CA – and across the Country. Take two minutes and place a call to your Member of Congress’ D.C. office. Here’s a template call script: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/gBW_b2-U You can find your representatives’ contact information here: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/gtpdkbK7 Every person deserves the same hope for their future. You can make that happen. Every phone call, email, social media post, and personal message to members of Congress is critical in ensuring that essential Medicaid funding be preserved across the country. Act now!
