As the US Navy celebrates its milestone 250th birthday this year, CNA reflects on key moments in Navy history, including those during our decades-long support to the organization. Our first story in Navy history began in 1942, when CNA analysts used data to devise ways to counter kamikaze attacks. #AmericasNavy250 https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/eN7VW8dP

About us
CNA is a nonprofit research and analysis organization dedicated to the safety and security of the nation. It operates the Center for Naval Analyses — the only Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) serving the Department of the Navy — as well as the Institute for Public Research. CNA is dedicated to developing actionable solutions to complex problems of national importance. With nearly 700 scientists, analysts and professional staff, CNA takes a real-world approach to gathering data. Its one-of-a-kind field program places analysts on carriers and military bases, in squad rooms and crisis centers, working side-by-side with operators and decision-makers around the world. CNA supports naval operations, fleet readiness and great power competition. Its non-defense research portfolio includes criminal justice, homeland security and data management.

CNA’s Tom Lozano and Rebekah Yang, alongside our partners from ATA Aviation and the Alaska Center for Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration (ACUASI), successfully completed FAA drone demonstrations at the Poker Flat Research Range in Fairbanks, Alaska. Over nearly two weeks, they developed and tested software using CNA’s UCATS™ to prioritize and deconflict diverse flight plans. This work is about more than technology—it’s about enabling safe, efficient, and equitable drone operations for emergency responders, public agencies, and commercial operators alike. CNA is honored to contribute to shaping the future of our national airspace to better serve communities and critical missions. Learn more about UCATS™: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/eTzuxdsA

It was great to work with the Center for Arctic Study and Policy at the US Coast Guard Academy to design and facilitate this wargame.
There has certainly been no shortage of news and updates along multiple topics and fronts relevant to the Arctic lately, which is one of the many reasons we were so excited to partner with CNA Corporation last week for the first run of the serious game, Arctic Floes. The purpose of this game is to explore the U.S. ability to respond to a near-term (~2030s) maritime threat in the U.S. Arctic and pan-Arctic in order to identify potential gaps in authority and jurisdiction and Command and Control (C2) of assets, people, processes, and capabilities that may inhibit a successful response. This game is intended to provide a methodology that can enable continuous assessment and improvement of combined-interagency coordination and response to maritime threats in the Arctic region by comparing potential future courses of action or organizational structures. In this way, it can be used both analytically and educationally, or both at the same time, for players with varying levels of experience or expertise. We were excited to be joined by nearly 30 players from across the U.S. interagency, including U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Northern Command, U.S. European Command, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Ted Stevens Center for Arctic Security Studies, U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Department of Transportation, U.S. Committee on the Marine Transportation System, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, National Intelligence University, National War College. We greatly appreciate the valuable time and expert inputs of the players and look forward to continuing this important analysis with you.
