“We Asked. We Built. We Became.” The Story of the Detroit Startup Fund We asked for it. Loud. Clear. Unapologetic. We said: if Detroit is building the future, then Detroit deserves to be funded for it. And the city answered. Not with a whisper— with a declaration. Because this time, we didn’t just talk about possibility. We wrote it down, petitioned it, pitched it, met about it, organized around it— then showed up to claim it. From founders to council chambers. From community tables to tech stages. From block clubs to boardrooms. This wasn’t luck. This was alignment. It took grit. It took vision. It took the courage to say: “We matter. Our ideas matter. Our businesses build futures.” This is the Detroit Startup Fund. Born from belief. Built by voices that refused to be left out. Funded because we refused to shrink. You could feel it yesterday: the future didn’t arrive— we built it into being. The energy was cosmic. OGs, new blood, ecosystem builders, government allies, investors with open eyes. It felt like a renaissance. Because it is one. We’ve got next. And we’ve got now. So here's to the dreamers who dared. The builders who stayed. The leaders who listened. The city that said yes. This is what it looks like when community shows up as strategy. When hustle becomes policy. When the underdog writes their own rulebook. This isn’t the end of a chapter— it's the first line of a new one. The future is bright. The future is us. And Detroit? Detroit just proved it.
