Over the past month, Care For the Homeless has shared powerful stories as part of our 2025 Summer Solstice Success Celebration, honoring the achievements of individuals who have overcome the challenges of homelessness. These stories—from securing stable housing, overcoming health challenges, and returning to the workforce—showcase what is possible when individuals are met with compassion, opportunity, and support. There is no one-size-fits-all solution to homelessness. That’s why celebrating these diverse successes is essential. They remind us that tailored interventions such as health care access, housing access, and employment support work. They restore dignity and open doors. Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating success this month. Let’s keep amplifying these voices and building systems in which more success is possible. Care For the Homeless reposted this
For a child experiencing homelessness, the first day of school can be filled with stress, uncertainty, and a deep sense of not belonging. This year, Care For the Homeless will support more than 1,200 children living in shelters or unstable housing across New York City. We’re calling on our corporate partners, business leaders, and community champions to stand with these young learners. Here’s how your company or team can make a meaningful impact: - Sponsor 10 backpacks for $400, each filled with school supplies. - Host a volunteer day to assemble backpacks with your team and ours. - Invite us in for a lunch-and-learn so we share our mission with you. We'll bring lunch! Donate at https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/eaSTtxss. To discuss corporate sponsorships or volunteer opportunities, message us directly or email jpetrakakos@cfhnyc.org.

Did you know? Women without stable housing are nearly twice as likely to die from breast cancer—often because of delayed diagnosis and barriers to care. That’s why we’re especially thankful to the American-Italian Cancer Foundation for bringing their Mammogram Bus to our Susan’s Place shelter. These free, on-site screenings help make sure that lifesaving care isn’t out of reach for the women who need it most. We’re also grateful to the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for joining us to share vital information on tuberculosis testing with our community. Together, we’re breaking down barriers to care and building healthier futures for our neighbors. To learn more about the wide range of health care services CFH provides, visit careforthehomeless.org.
