  • We've had a busy couple of weeks at the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket and Camp Ramsbottom with some great visitors stopping by! At the Club, we were excited to welcome U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, along with city and school leaders, for a tour of our Infinity Explorers summer program. The program gives rising 4th - 7th graders a hands-on, 20 day boost in math and STEM, all made possible thanks to Learn 365 funding. Some of our Club members even got to tell the Senator all about their recent trip to the National Keystone Conference in Chicago! Meanwhile, Camp Ramsbottom has also been buzzing with guests! We had a great time welcoming and touring: Sam Gray, BGCA’s VP of the Northeast Region; Friends from Hasbro, Sarah Moffitt Knott, Director of Philanthropy and Social Impact and Donna Mink, Global Philanthropy & Social Impact Manager; Members of our fantastic Board of Directors; Kris Lyons, Board Member and former Board President, and Jenn Aldworth from the Massachusetts Alliance of Boys & Girls Clubs; Randy A. Buck, Interim Superintendent of Pawtucket Schools. We love the chance to show off the amazing things our staff and members are up to, and we’re grateful to everyone who came by to see it in action!

  • Last Monday marked the official start of the 2025 Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket Summer Baseball Season! This year we have over 330 kids ranging from ages 4 to 18 participating, and last night was truly an epic kick off to another great year. We had the honor of presenting the 2nd Annual Ray Johnston Jr. Commitment to Youth Award to Frank Ribeiro, a longtime mentor and coach who has impacted and inspired generations of young athletes in Pawtucket. Congratulations Frank! We also celebrated the dedication and ribbon cutting of Kaufman’s Corner, a newly created space in loving memory of Arthur J. Kaufman - a devoted supporter of the Club and passionate advocate for youth baseball. Arthur’s belief in making the world a better place for kids and families will forever inspire us, and his legacy will live on in every game played at the field overlooking the Club he helped build. Finally, we had two ceremonial first pitches from family members of both Ray Johnston Jr. and Arthur Kaufman, raffle prizes, Palagis frozen lemonade, hot dogs and burgers, lawn games, and more. Opening Day was truly a home run! Here’s to another fantastic summer!

  • We’re so excited to welcome Anthony "A.J." Lewis as the new Director of Development & Communications at the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket! A.J. brings with him an extensive background in fundraising within higher education and college athletics, and is excited to be joining the movement of Boys & Girls Clubs. This marks his second full-time position in the city of Pawtucket - having previously worked in the ticket office for the Pawtucket Red Sox during the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Originally from South Carolina, A.J. played college baseball at Limestone University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Sport Management. He went on to receive a master’s degree from the University of South Carolina in the College of Hospitality, Retail, and Sport Management. With deep ties to the community and a passion for service, A.J. is eager to give back to the city that has given him so much. The Club is so excited to have him on board and looks forward to all he will bring to the team, our members, and the Pawtucket community. Please join us in welcoming him to the team! AJ Lewis

  • Last week, we had the honor of celebrating the 125th Anniversary of the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket - and what a night it was. Filled with joy, pride and community, the evening was a fantastic reflection of all that our Club has meant to generations of kids and families. We were thrilled to welcome a sold-out house of supporters, alumni, community leaders, and friends. We kicked off the evening with live jazz from the talented JMW School for the Arts Jazz Band, followed by an incredible dance performance by our very own Club members, and words from emcee Alison Bologna. We were also honored to hear from several speakers who shared personal stories and reflections about our Club and our mission: • Brian Morley and Jared Wade, event Co-Chairs • Bruce Messier, President of Butler & Messier Insurance and 1st Vice President of our Board of Directors • Joseph T. Fleming, President of our Board of Directors • Senator Jack Reed, United States Senator, Rhode Island • Jim Hoyt, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket And our special guests: Jim Clark, President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and Victor Cruz, Boys & Girls Club alum, Super Bowl Champion, and longtime advocate for Club youth. The evening also recognized this year’s 2025 Award Honorees, whose leadership and generosity reflect the very best of our mission: Paul Morrisroe – Volunteer of the Year Award Collette – Corporate Community Partner Award Thomas J. Westgate – Lyman B. Goff Founders Award To everyone who made this event possible - our staff, committee, sponsors, board members, and supporters – we could not have had such a successful night without you! Special thank you to Presenting Sponsor Butler & Messier Insurance! Here’s to 125 years of inspiring great futures for the youth of Pawtucket and the surrounding communities! • Yesterday we had a fantastic visit from the summer intern team at Collette, who helped us pack over 250 backpacks with everything kids need to have a great summer at Camp Ramsbottom. We’re so grateful to them for their time and hard work! 😎🎒 Collette has been a longtime supporter of the Club, and we were proud to recognize them with our 2025 Corporate Community Partner Award at last week’s 125th Anniversary Celebration. Thank you Collette for being such a wonderful friend and part of our community! 💙
