There are moments that transcend the everyday, filling our hearts with a profound and shared emotion. Today was one of those moments, ignited by the monumental accomplishment of Deborah Martorell's Blue Origin flight. The room was electric, charged with a palpable sense of patriotism, an unwavering hope for a better future, and the unmistakable feeling of witnessing greatness. What we saw today was nothing short of awe-inspiring. For generations, humanity has looked to the stars and dreamed. Like Deborah, like myself, and like so many of you, the dream of touching the heavens has been a guiding light. To witness a fellow Puerto Rican journey beyond our atmosphere is a powerful testament that our aspirations have no ceiling. It is a symbol of what we can achieve. This historic flight proves that commercial space is not a far-off fantasy; it is here to stay. It sends a clear message that your origin, your profession, or your background no longer defines your potential to reach for the stars. Space is becoming more accessible to all. Let us embrace this new era of space transportation. It will be the dawn of incredible innovation, revolutionizing our world and unlocking new possibilities in every industrial sector, beginning with medicine, medical procedures and manufacturing. With great excitement, I introduce the Coquinauta, my zero-gravity indicator for my upcoming space flight. What fills me with the most pride is that it was designed and 3D printed by the talented students of the Technology Club at Dr. Carlos González School in Aguada. These young minds have been hard at work since April, designing multiple options throughout the summer. The coquí, a native frog whose sound we cherish, is an integral part of our Puerto Rican identity. It even carries a backpack containing a seed from a fellow school's experiment in Aguada. I eagerly await the moment I see it float inside the New Shepard capsule. I'm incredibly proud of the talent of our Puerto Rican students.

🌚 En el Día Internacional de la Luna, honramos no solo ese astro que ha inspirado sueños y misiones espaciales, sino también a los astronautas, científicos e ingenieros puertorriqueños que con su talento y pasión han impulsado el camino hacia las estrellas. Gracias a sus aportaciones, cada vez estamos más cerca de ver a un boricua en la Luna. “Yo sería borincano aunque naciera en la Luna…” Joseph Acaba: Astronauta veterano y actual jefe de la Oficina de Astronautas de la NASA. Fue el primer puertorriqueño en viajar al espacio y hoy lidera la preparación y selección de futuras misiones tripuladas. Marcos Berrios: Actual astronauta candidato de la NASA, seleccionado en 2021. También es oficial de pruebas en la Reserva Aérea de EE.UU., con experiencia como piloto. Yajaira Sierra Sastre, PhD: Científica en nanotecnología que participó en la misión simulada HI-SEAS de la NASA en Hawái, investigando cómo vivir y alimentarse en Marte. Aymette Medina: Primera mujer puertorriqueña y primera educadora hispana en viajar al espacio en un vuelo suborbital de Blue Origin, a bordo de la cápsula New Shepard. Deborah Martorell: Meteoróloga puertorriqueña y futura astronauta, será la primera meteoróloga en ir al espacio como parte de un proyecto educativo y científico. Ada Monzon: Meteoróloga y educadora científica.
