  • From learner to 200kmph... what a journey. This #RFSoapbox piece by Kuheli Ray is not just about driving, but about pushing limits. Give it a read!

A year ago, I couldn’t drive. At 35, learning to drive felt daunting and a bit late. The Comet was my beginner’s companion, and I turned the ignition onto a new chapter in my life. MG Motor, one of my clients (and now my co-conspirator in adventure!), has played a big role in making driving approachable and fun for me. Fast forward to yesterday—I found myself behind the wheel of the MG Cyberster, an all-electric, two-door sportscar, hitting 200kmph at BIC. If you’d told me this story last year, I would have laughed it off. If there’s one thing this journey has taught me, it’s that there’s truly no expiry date for learning a life skill- be it driving, or anything else. Whether it’s the daily commute or chasing dreams, every step forward is a win. And for those curiosities out there - yes I touched the 205kmph! My phone ran out of juice at just the wrong moment, so you’ll just have to take my word for it. Here’s to new adventures—at any age, and every speed. Ruder Finn India

At the recent Sabre South Asia awards in Delhi, over 300 communicators gathered to connect and celebrate. The red carpet, rolled out an evening with lively discussions, anticipation around the awards, making it an other memorable event. Starting the night with a toast was a fitting tribute to communication professionals—the thinkers, creators, and dedicated individuals whose efforts drive brands forward every day. Vice President - Consumer & Tech at Ruder Finn India | PR Moment 30 under 30 | e4m PR and Corp Comm 40 under 40 | Agency Reporter 40 under 40 | Agency Report SHE Awards 2021

Last week, we wrapped up the H1 Business Review Ruder Finn India - two days of reflection, honest conversations, and planning for what’s next. I had the chance to present the progress and plans for the Consumer & Tech practice – a team that’s grown stronger, taken on bigger challenges, and continues to build deep expertise and greater experiences. It’s been a busy, fulfilling journey so far, and we’re only just getting started. But what really stood out for me over the two days was the openness that the practice and function teams showed – they shared not just the wins, but also the lessons, the uncertainties, and the adjustments we need to make. It reminded me that real growth doesn’t come from chasing perfection but from showing up with honesty and determination every single day – for the work, for the people and, most importantly, for each other. My biggest takeaway? That progress feels more real when it's shared – when you're part of a team that sees you, supports you, and isn’t afraid to course-correct together. Grateful to be part of a leadership group that leads with empathy and intent. Onwards to a sharper, stronger second half, and always excited for What's Next! The Ozzy Paradox: His legacy screams. So, I woke 2 days later… been in the boardroom discussing how have we fared in a half-year business review. And the Prince of Darkness is no more… but his legacy lives on. As I write this listening to “No more Tears” … Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy … not just a rock star but a master of authentic chaos and resilient reinvention. What can I take from this man who influenced such a big part of me and my music listening choices. 1. Stop chasing perfection and be true to yourself: Create safe spaces for controlled venting or admitting roadblocks. Suppressing chaos breeds silent dysfunction; acknowledging it allows for focused problem-solving. Be strategically messy, not dishonestly polished. 2. Foster deep loyalty: Invest genuinely in your team's well-being. Celebrate individual quirks within the team dynamic. Protect your people fiercely during external challenges. Loyalty is a powerful retention and performance driver. 3. Calculated rule-breaking & shock innovation: Encourage calculated rule-breaking and disruptive thinking. Challenge stale processes. What safe assumption can we challenge to get noticed (positively) or break a market norm? Don't just innovate; innovate memorably. 4. Radical resilience: Failure isn't fatal; stagnation is. Encourage pivots, skill updates, and role changes. When projects crash (like Ozzy's early solo attempts), focus on the comeback narrative. Foster personal reinvention within the company structure. Adaptability is the ultimate corporate currency. 5. Strategic Partnerships and unwavering belief: Find your ‘Sharon’ – someone who complements your weaknesses, believes fiercely in your potential, and can strategically navigate complexity. Actively seek and empower these crucial counterbalances. Recognize that the visionary, often needs the operator. 6. Humility in the Machine: Acknowledge contributions publicly. Understand your specific role in the corporate ‘band’ and respect the expertise of others (your guitarists, drummers, techies). Ego destroys collaboration. Embrace the human mess, build unbreakable bonds, dare to be memorably different, and always, ALWAYS, find a way to get back on the stage, no matter how hard you fall. He's the reminder that sometimes, the most valuable corporate asset isn't a flawless process manual, but the spirit, loyalty, and sheer bloody-minded determination of the people operating within (and sometimes against) it. Be Ozzy – I take my hat off and bow in respect to you great sir. RF Thunder India Ruder Finn India Ruder Finn

Returning to Bali for the Ruder Finn Global AGM felt oddly familiar- same venue, same agenda template, many of the same faces. But this year, it hit differently.   First off, truly missed the other members of India contingent who were a part last time- wasn’t the same without them this time. Also, there was this quiet realisation that the work we do as a network is evolving faster than we realise.   There were, of course, the usual country updates and performance slides. But two moments stayed with me: - We welcomed Era Communications (Ruder Finn Era) into the Ruder Finn family- a move that strengthens our presence in Asia and adds new depth to the kind of work we want to do globally. - Our growing momentum around AI. This wasn’t a buzzword conversation- it was a serious step forward. Real applications, smart experiments, and a mindset shift across the network that says: we’re not just reacting to tech, we’re building with it. As always, I left with more questions than answers. But that’s the best part. Because if these gatherings have taught me anything, it’s that progress doesn’t always shout. Sometimes, it shows up quietly. Ruder Finn India RF Thunder India

A few weeks back, I had the privilege of reviewing some of the finest work delivered by the PR fraternity 🔈 across a diverse range of sectors. I was part of the jury- a well balanced team of experienced PR professionals for the upcoming SABRE South Asia Awards. While the challenge always lies in selecting the best among the best, it was truly inspiring to see how closely aligned many of the campaigns were with core business objectives, and how effectively they delivered measurable outcomes and impact. Creativity 💡 emerged as a strong, unifying theme. As communications professionals, creativity is not just a benchmark—it's a daily expectation. In today’s digital-first world, we are constantly reimagining narratives through a multi-platform lens, crafting differentiated content strategies, and nurturing communities that drive deep engagement. Purpose-led campaigns 🌿 , often assumed to be straightforward due to their broad audience appeal, are anything but. It takes more than headlines to tell a compelling story—it takes measurable, real-world impact that goes beyond the surface and connects at the grassroots level. And at the heart of it all, business outcomes 💰 remain the North Star. As brand custodians, we are continually challenged to create campaigns that not only build awareness but also enable brand preference, fuel market leadership, and deliver tangible value to shareholders. The entire evaluation journey was a powerful reminder of how far our industry has come—how swiftly we’ve adapted, how intentionally we tell stories to the audiences that matter, and how rigorously we now tie communication efforts back to business outcomes. I walk away from this experience with new perspectives, fresh inspiration, and, above all, a renewed sense of pride in the remarkable work the communications community delivers every single day. Time to celebrate the work we do each day, the milestones and most importantly raise a toast to an interesting future 🥂 . Looking forward to meeting the folks this thursday, The Westin Gurgaon New Delhi #WeVaLYou #SABREAwardsSA #PRologue2025 PRCAI Ruder Finn India

Halfway There - And What a Ride It’s Been! Phew! It’s that time of the year when we pause, take stock, and reflect on how far we’ve come. As we review H1, it’s not just about organisational milestones- it’s also about taking a moment for a little 'Status Me.' What have I achieved, what have I learned, and what am I setting my sights on for the next six months?   These six months have been full of “FIRSTs” for me.    Finally finishing school, completed my MBA in January after much contemplation, encouragement and a strong inner push to grow. An adventure, I’ve dreamt of for years- my first-ever solo overseas trip. Nervous, excited, jittery, and then it all came together. The stars aligned and off I went… London-bound! Every moment was magical, every street a postcard, and yes, I was totally the wide-eyed tourist soaking it all in. Received my first global recognition- the 'David Finn Award' for Culture & Collaboration and to top it off, was named “SOS Person of the Year” at this year’s RF Awards Ruder Finn India. To be recognised for something so close to my heart was incredibly special. It reminded me how much our values shape the work we do, and how far passion can take you.   What makes it all special isn’t just the milestones. It’s the growth, the community, and the courage to say yes to things I once put on hold.   Here’s to a second half filled with more learning, a few leaps, and maybe another passport stamp :)   The story continues…   #RFSoapbox
