Unveiling our new warewash system with sustainability and operational enhancement We are proud to announce the launch of our redesigned warewash system, making Cathay Dining the first airline caterer in Hong Kong to support the recycling of inbound food waste. With this new facility, we have increased our food waste recycling capacity by 200%. Food waste collected is transferred to O·PARK for electricity generation, demonstrating our commitment to environmental stewardship and waste management. In addition, our new system separates the stripping and washing processes, ensuring washers operate only when the equipment reaches a pre-defined threshold. This system-level optimisation has resulted in up to 70% electricity savings and nearly 60% reduction in water usage, compared with the previous system under the current operating conditions. On the other hand, the system serves as a solution to the dynamic demands of equipment washing. With the inclusion of multi-purpose washers and a separate equipment sorting process, the new system offers greater adaptability and flexibility – achieving over a 20% increase in machine utilisation compared to the previous system. This initiative represents an important milestone in our efforts for sustainable catering operations. We look forward to continuing our journey towards a greener future. the street café, a retail chain owned by Cathay Dining, has collaborated with HK Express and Hong Kong Airport Services Limited to celebrate Earth Day by promoting a greener lifestyle and reducing reliance on single-use containers. As part of this effort, we once again organised the "Bring Your Own Cup" campaign at the street café in Cathay House to encourage the reduction of disposable cup consumption. Meanwhile, to make sustainable choices more accessible for the airport and CityU community customers, a free upgrade to pistachio oat milk with caffe latte and Earth Day exclusive vegetarian meal set were offered across all chains. The theme of this year's Earth Day, "Our Power, Our Planet", calls on everyone around the globe to unite in protecting the environment. Every small steps—such as choosing a plant-based meal, bringing a reusable cup, or reducing single-use plastic packaging—contributes to our collective environmental goals.
