ENGIE has secured long-term hydrogen storage capacity in Germany, under a 10-year contract starting in 2028 with RWE Gas Storage West. This strategic booking gives ENGIE access to the first industrial-scale, open-access hydrogen storage site in North-Western Europe — located in Gronau-Epe, at the heart of a fast-growing hydrogen cluster in the Ruhr area. Why does it matter for our clients? Because secure and flexible storage is key to decarbonizing industrial processes with renewable hydrogen. It enables ENGIE to offer reliable and cost-competitive supply, even when production and consumption are not aligned. This move strengthens ENGIE’s midstream capabilities and allows us to go further in supporting our clients on their journey to net zero.
