EDAG DO BRASIL // Celebrating innovation: Our experts publish article in prestigious Springer Nature journal, Scientific Data! We are proud to celebrate an extraordinary achievement by our Brazilian team! Our experts, André Luiz Florentino and Eva Laussac Diniz, have published a high-impact scientific article in Scientific Data, one of the most renowned journals within the Springer Nature group. Having their work featured in such a prestigious platform for the global scientific community fills us with immense pride. The research, based on André’s master's thesis, addresses one of the most critical challenges for the future of mobility: safety. The team has developed pioneering work by creating a dataset that enables autonomous vehicles to identify and react to crucial sound events—such as sirens, horns, children playing, and dogs barking—improving road safety. This publication is not just a milestone in André and Eva’s careers; it also exemplifies a core value of our company: our commitment to innovation and talent development. As our Director of Product Development, Alexandre Sberveglieri, highlights, “This achievement is the result of years of dedication, day and night, and fills us with pride.” André and Eva’s accomplishment is an inspiring example of what can be achieved with dedication, passion, and a supportive environment that encourages the pursuit of knowledge and professional growth—like the one we have at EDAG. We are confident this is just the first of many more contributions to come. Congratulations to both for this internationally relevant achievement! We invite everyone to learn more about this innovative research that is helping to shape the future of automotive technology. You can find the links below in the comments. 👇

SMART, SMARTER, IMPACTFUL // We’re kicking off a new chapter: The new LinkedIn Newsletter EDAG Pulse is live. Each month, we explore the technologies, decisions and ideas shaping the future of engineering. With technical insights, hands-on perspectives and expert input. The first topic: What makes a product really smart? And when is it actually worth it? It’s not just about connectivity or automation. Smart is purpose-driven design: systems that solve real problems, reduce complexity, and remain adaptable over time. It’s often found in the details: in clean mechanics, modular design, or a well-placed sensor that helps avoid failure before it happens. That’s where this issue of EDAG Pulse starts. One idea. One topic. Once a month. 👉 Curious? Check out the first issue now.

OUTSOURCING IN MEDTECH: STRATEGIC MOVE OR LAST RESORT // Developing medical devices today means facing a complex set of challenges: 🔹 Growing regulatory demands 🔹 Pressure to reduce time-to-market 🔹 Increasing system complexity (hardware, software, usability, cybersecurity) 🔹 Persistent shortage of qualified experts Outsourcing is often viewed as a fallback when internal resources are stretched. But used strategically, it can become a catalyst for innovation, speed and quality. The key is timing. Outsourcing delivers the most value when used proactively: ✅ To access expertise that isn’t available in-house ✅ To scale during critical development phases ✅ To bring in a fresh perspective that challenges existing assumptions However, real value doesn’t come from simply transferring tasks. The most effective collaborations happen when internal and external teams are aligned, transparent and committed to a common goal. Not every project requires an external partner. But in the right context, the right collaboration can make all the difference. 🧠 Curious to hear: Have you worked with external development teams and what surprised you most about the collaboration?

TESTING IS THE BRIDGE BETWEEN VISION AND REALITY // But it’s more than just verifying technical functions. It’s about ensuring reliability. Safety. Compliance. Across all industries. At EDAG Testing, we think beyond pass or fail. We act as a validation partner with over 300 test engineers, 300+ systems, and a network that spans Germany, Mexico, and beyond. Why does this matter? Because in today’s world, trust is non-negotiable. Whether you're developing vehicles, consumer goods, or medtech solutions, your product must work. Everywhere. Every time. That’s why we combine two things few can: 🔹 Broad technical expertise 🔹 True customer proximity From full vehicle validation to AI-driven test automation, we integrate virtual methods, agile processes, and DIN 17025-accredited quality. All from a single source. “Testing is no longer a back-end task,” says Johannes Jachning, Vice President Testing. “It’s a strategic enabler – and we’re building that bridge with our clients.” 👉 Curious about how this works in practice? FROM POWDER TO PUCK: CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT FOR A SIC PRODUCTION PLANT // Silicon carbide (SiC) is becoming increasingly important for semiconductor and power electronics applications. In collaboration with PVA TePla AG represented by Dennis Seibert and Michael Schöler, Dr.-Ing., EDAG developed a comprehensive concept for a factory designed to manufacture SiC Pucks – from handling the raw powder to delivering the finished product. The objective was to create a flexible, scalable factory blueprint that could be adapted to different production scenarios and site conditions. EDAG was responsible for the technical concept, process definition and layout planning. Our scope included: ✔ Evaluation of alternative manufacturing concepts ✔ Process and logistics design ✔ Layout planning for up to 500+ SiCma systems (Physical Vapor Transport Systems) ✔ Technology benchmarking and supplier recommendations ✔ Optimized Production and Material flow ✔ Dynamic simulation of factory throughput ✔ Definition of factory KPIs such as footprint, FTE and CAPEX A physical test production was built and digitally simulated to validate the concept. The digital model enables a transparent and data-driven approach to scaling and investment planning. The result is a robust master concept that serves as a requirements specification for future SiC fab projects. Early identification of potential challenges, standardized processes and targeted investments offer the customer long-term planning security. ➡️ More on our innovations for the semiconductor industry in the comments.

RETHINKING AN ICON: THE LISBON TRAM // At EDAG Group, we have been developing mobility solutions across land, sea and air for over 50 years. One of our strategic focus areas is the railway sector. To stay innovative and foster internal creativity, we regularly launch internal development projects. One of our latest: reimagining a public transport legend. The Lisbon tram. The goal was not to redesign, but to rethink its entire role in modern urban mobility. The current tram is full of charm, but its low capacity and limited accessibility no longer meet the demands of a growing dynamic city. Here’s what our concept brings to the table: ✅ Driverless operation for seamless integration into future mobility systems ✅ A single wide access door for fast and barrier-free entry and exit ✅ A climate-controlled interior that functions as a social space ✅ Seating and standing areas that reflect the open communal feel of Lisbon’s streets and squares ✅ Significantly increased capacity and improved passenger comfort With this project, we’re exploring how an urban icon can evolve while staying true to its identity. It’s about merging tradition with technology to create a better experience for all. What’s your take on our vision for the Lisbon tram? Let’s talk in the comments 👇

SIX MONTHS OF MOVEMENT // Since January 2025, we have been working with Cult to create more than just fitness at EDAG India. It's about holistic wellbeing: mental, physical and emotional. 💪 This initiative under our "We Care" policy has noticeably brought new energy and more balance to our teams over the last six months. On July 18, we celebrated this first milestone with mental wellbeing and dance fitness sessions at both locations. A day full of movement, motivation and team spirit! The trainers Nitika Kamra and Vicky Bhatt accompanied us with their motivating programs and made this a special experience. A big thank you to our employees for their commitment, to cult fit and Curefit as strong partners and to our Managing Director Rainer Wittich, who has supported this project from the very beginning. Together, we are creating a working environment in which health and satisfaction go hand in hand. 🤝
