There’s lots of news about AI and job disruption, including HR jobs. But will AI ever replace HR? Our COO, Erin Campbell, CHRL, doesn’t think so. If anything, she thinks AI will empower HR to be even more human, which is something all workers are looking for these days. “People are craving more human connection in this age of AI,” she says in this Tech Talent North article: https://xmrrwallet.com/cmx.plnkd.in/g2Txh-7y And as AI takes on more routine HR tasks, Erin thinks it will free up HR leaders to focus more on culture, strategy and, most importantly, human connection. Take the hiring process, for example. AI can make it more efficient by scheduling interviews and scanning resumes, but at Altis, we still think face-to-face interviews with our candidates are the best way of determining who is most suited for the job and who has the soft skills that are most in demand by today’s employers. These skills will be even more critical as AI evolves because it will take skilled humans to get the most out of this technology. “The better your soft skills, the better you can leverage technology to enhance your work and your impact,” says Erin. Thanks to Tech Talent North for the interesting profile. #AIinHR #HRLeadership #FutureOfWork

Last weekend, several of our Toronto team members hit the sand for the Heatwave Beach Volleyball Tournament in support of The Hospital for Sick Children. For over 30 years, this event has raised critical funds for childhood cancer treatment and research at SickKids. Every bump, set and spike was in support of the 800+ kids currently receiving cancer care at SickKids. Although our team, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘴, may not have brought home gold this year, we are proud to have contributed $2,500 to help advance care and research at the hospital, which is a win in our books! Kudos to our players and cheer squad, who showed up with hustle and heart – and a big thank you to everyone at Heatwave for SickKids and the SickKids Foundation for organizing such a stellar community event. We’re already looking forward to next year. #CommunityDriven #SickKidsStrong #AltisInAction Heatwave for SickKids

“They just felt like a good fit.” It sounds harmless enough until you realize what’s really driving that hiring decision: unconscious bias. It’s not a flaw; it’s human (we all have biases). But unless it’s acknowledged — and challenged — unconscious bias can shape decisions in real ways, affecting which candidates get shortlisted and hired, and which ones get overlooked. In other words, it could narrow your search without you even realizing it. That’s why we’ve been 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗯𝗶𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 — so we can cast the widest net possible in our search for great talent. We’ve taken what we’ve learned and created a new guide to help HR leaders and hiring teams spot what might be hiding in plain sight. Our 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗕𝗶𝗮𝘀 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 covers: ✅ The most common biases in the hiring process (think: age, race, affinity and more) ✅ Canadian stats and real-world examples ✅ Tips and tools, including a simple “CLEAR” framework to help you challenge bias in everyday decisions We built it for our own team. Now we’re sharing it with yours. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to level up your inclusive hiring practices, we hope it supports your goals around 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲.
