What is the best data recovery software for macos?
10 years old Windows user and switched to Mac recently. I recently lost some important files due to accidental deletion (they're not in the Trash anymore), and I don't have a Time Machine backup. I came across a lot of data recovery software options, but not sure which one actually works best on macOS, especially for recovering permanently deleted files or files from my mac internal drive. What is the best data recovery for mac osx? Has anyone here had success with any specific tool? I need something that's safe, easy to use, and ideally not too expensive. Free options are welcome too if they're reliable.22Views0likes6CommentsTrouble starting Windows firewall error 0x8007042c
Recently, I encountered some issues with Windows, and it apparently removed the internet service from my PC. Fortunately, I was able to fix that. However, a new problem has emerged: Windows Firewall simply won't start and consistently returns error 0x8007042c. I tried looking for solutions on Google, but none of them actually worked. One of the suggestions was to start the firewall through the Windows Services panel, but when I try to do that, I get error code 1068.2Views0likes0CommentsMozilla/Betterbird Email Issues

I just installed Windows 10 and see a huge drop off in the boot time and shut down times. I have an i7 laptop with the OS partitioned on a SSD drive. Windows 8.1 would take 10-15 seconds to boot up. This isnt the case here, right after the logo displays, I get a blank screen for a good minute. The laptop is fine after booting up, no lagging or heating issues so far. I really don't want to clean install, just because the AMD drivers for my gfx card are a pain in the rear to properly install. Also reading people having this issue even after a clean install. Anyone else having the same issue?12Views0likes1CommentCan I upgrade older windows 10 laptop to 11
Interesting in upgrading the older windows 10 laptop to Windows 11 but the old laptop is not officially by Windows 11. It is a HP Pavilion 15, released 10 years ago. However, it is still a device device for basic tasks such as web browsing and office. I hava USB camera attached to my desktop. I use Phone Link to keep my phone connected as well. My computer used to see the camera on my phone, a Samsung Galaxy A54. I recently reinstalled Windows, and ever since, it cannot find the phone camera (which is preferable to the USB camera). Although Phone Link works, when I connect by bluetooth between phone and desktop, it disconnects after a couple of seconds. What might I do to get this phone camera to show up?10Views0likes0CommentsI have had nothing but probelm,s with Windows 11 ?
So to give a little background on my aptitude - I play video games regularly, have always used Tom's Hardware to proof my computer builds, and work from home in digital marketing. I know my work platforms and am highly familiar with the basics of windows, shorcuts and navigating around general issues, but have no background in coding or understanding registries, how drivers work, or anything on the fundamental programming of how computers operate. Having said that, I have had so many problems with Windows 11 since I was forced to upgrade that I'm actively looking for other options. I've had random driver errors, freezing, sound dropping out in the middle of critical meetings, etc., and I'm fed up with the incompetent product that is Windows 11. If someone under my management went to market with this, I would have fired them immediately for even suggesting to do it. Is Linux something someone with my background can handle? Do I need a deep understanding of how computers operate to get it up and going? It took me hours to troubleshoot the steps to flashing my BIOS so I could even upgrade to windows (and no, it was not an easy process. There were issues) Are there other options out there, or has Microsoft squashed any and all PC competition? Is Linux something someone who has 200+ games on Steam can utilize? How messed up am I?42Views1like2CommentsSuper optimized Windows 11!
Just finished building final, super optimized Windows 11 "gold" image! Processes are around 80, but that doesn't make me as happy as that straight "CPU Utilization" line, not doing anything behind my back. Feels I came to the end of optimizing Windows 11, and wanted to share with someone. Spent literally years optimizing and fiddling with all the settings, services, group policies, and ways to make this installation as clean and lean as possible, while maintaining all the functionality and without breaking anything. At this point, I don't think it's even possible to do anything more. It's mind boggling how much junk, telemetry and unnecessary services comes with default Windows 11 intallation, to the point they cripple my computer. Thinking about documenting all the steps and then making a video as a guide on how to achieve this. It involves a lot, just preparing image for installation, the way I install drivers through pnputil so they don't install unnecessary software that then installs unnecessary services and autorun items... there's a lot, but will try to document and condense the process and make a video if I manage. Note: made similar post on another subreddit that was deleted so I decided to share it here.21Views0likes1CommentWindows 11 upgrade failed as it says "The PC must support TPM 2.0"
I have a powerful gaming PC built a few years ago with an Intel i7 8th gen processor, 16GB RAM, RX 560 4G graphics card and 512GB SSD. This error pops up when I was planning to upgrade Windows 10 to Windows 11 on my pc: This PC must support TPM 2.0 It directly comes from Windows 11 setup utility and tells me this pc doesn't currently meet windows 11 system requirements. Hi guys, Anyone having issues with white Windows icon of their Xbox Game Pass games appearing on their desktop? I’m running an AMD Ryzen 7800X3D CPU on Windows 11. When playing Grounded 2, my CPU usage is very high — close to 100% — and my radiator fans get extremely loud. However, as soon as I open Task Manager, CPU load drops immediately to around 25–30%, temperatures fall sharply, and the fans become almost silent. The strange thing is, the game continues to run perfectly fine (even on my relatively modest RTX 3060). I first noticed this while testing performance comparisons for another game project I’ve been following here: https://grounded2.online/ — and I’m wondering if this behavior is a known Windows 11 quirk, a scheduling issue, or something related to how Task Manager interacts with CPU priority. Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on what’s going on? Thanks!15Views0likes0CommentsHow can I restore a Windows 10 file history backup on Windows 11???
When I attempted to update from 10 to 11, the install froze and bricked my PC. The hard drive had to be reformatted in order to install Windows 11. (grrrrrrr....) I'm now attempting to restore all of my documents from my Windows 10 File History backup, but the backup does not show up in File History. (grrrrrr...) I can see the backup in an Explorer window, and all of the files are there, but the names have all been appended with a string of text including a date, other numbers, and "UTC" all within parentheses. In addition, there are 4 folders within the backup folder labeled DESKTOP-FOG06F4 with an appended number, all with different dates, which I'm assuming are incremental backups. Both of these issues would make it extraordinarily difficult to just copy and paste the data back onto my internal drive. Is the Windows 10 File History format incompatible with Windows 11? (If it is, how is there not a HUGE warning about this prior to updating the OS??? grrrrr....) If this is the case, would reverting my PC back to Windows 10 make it possible to restore everything properly?7Views0likes0CommentsCannot install or update UWP or WinUI apps using msixbundler
I used VS2019 (Version 16.11.2) to create a C# "Blank App, Packaged (WinUI 3 in Desktop)" project to test automatic updates. I have a trusted certificate imported to "Trusted Root Certification Authorities" and used "Create App Packages" to create the package installer and sideload the app. I also have developer mode enabled. I can only install the app using "Add-AppDevPackage.ps1" in Powershell. If I use the msixbundler or the index.html, the installer detects if installed or if it should update, but running always fails with "App installation failed with error message: Access is denied. (0x80070005)". The attached screenshot shows this. I repeated this with the same results for a blank UWP app. This is the machine I am trying to update the app on. At work, my team and I extensively use Quick Access in File Explorer in Windows 10. Our agency is about to upgrade to Windows 11, which I use at home. My File Explorer at home (Windows 11) allows me to right-click folders and select Pin to Quick Access, but the quick access is missing from the Navigation Pane and none of the "fixes" I've found on the Internet have helped. I can live with this at home (very unhappily and resentfully), but at work, because of our heavy reliance on the Quick Access in File Explorer, losing Quick Access will be catastrophic. How do I restore Quick Access to File Explorer?732Views2likes2CommentsUnclickable Start Menu Items
An odd issue: If I search for a document through the start menu, it finds it, but when I hit ENTER or click on it, it doesn't load. After signing out and in, it works, but eventually it reverts to this issue. It doesn't happen on every item. For example, if I search for WORD and hit enter, it loads. But if I search for "X" (a WORD document) it shows the result, but when I hit enter or click on it, it does not load. Indexing is on. Please see the image. What happens is that ghost windows appear on the screen. They have a title bar and border but no contents, and they remain on top of everything else. You cannot interact with them or close them and the application that originally showed them has long been exited and is not running anymore (not in the task bar). If you minimize all desktop windows, they remain. If you restart Explorer they remain. The only solution is to restart the computer. It looks like at some point some soft of desktop or windows manager picks up these title bars and then they remain onscreen until a restart. Seen with Windows 11 23H2 (not tried on 24H2 yet) on multiple machines, never seen with Windows 10. A snooper application which finds an application if you drag a cursor over these windows finds nothing, just the desktop there.179Views0likes5Comments
